We Were Almost Right

Released: May 29, 2026

We Were Almost Right is Bobby Chills’ latest double A-side release, pairing the title track with The Night Won’t Let Me Rest. Across both songs, Bobby moves deeper into his after-hours blues-soul world: dim rooms, unanswered questions, quiet heartbreak and memories that refuse to fade. We Were Almost Right looks back on a love that nearly became what it promised to be, while The Night Won’t Let Me Rest carries that feeling into the silence that follows. Together, the tracks form one restless emotional statement. This is Bobby Chills at his most reflective and quietly devastating: not shouting at the past, but sitting with it long after midnight.

Lyrics
We talked like we had time to burn Like it would all work out Said the right things out loud Just never when it counted I felt it every time you went quiet I just let it slide Thought love would find a way on its own If we gave it time We kept saying nothing was wrong Just tired just busy just life But silence has a way of telling you What you already know inside We were almost right Close enough to believe Hands on something real But we would not reach Yeah we were almost right But almost fades with time If love needs nerve to stay alive We ran out just shy You waited on me to open up I waited on you to stay Both of us standing in the doorway Letting another moment slip away I see it clear in the rear view now Every inch where we stalled We kept hoping the other would move So neither moved at all I do not blame you I hope you know I was not brave when it mattered most Some loves are real But miss their chance They do not fall apart They just do not stand We were almost right And that is the shame Not that it ended Just how close we came Yeah we were almost right And I live with that Some things you do not lose all at once You lose them inch by inch like that Almost right Yeah almost right

Lyrics
The night comes falling on me Like it knows my name I close my eyes but every memory Starts calling me again I tried to drown the silence But it only grew Every sound in this dark room Leads me back to you I hear your voice in echoes In the ticking of the clock Every second feels like judgement Every moment will not stop I tell myself I am stronger Than the truth I try to fight But my heart keeps breaking open Every night I make excuses in the daylight Wear a smile like armour on my face But when the shadows start talking I cannot escape The night will not let me rest It pulls the truth out of my chest Every lie I told myself Falls apart when I am left Here alone with what I lost And the love I did not save The night keeps telling me the truth I am the one to blame I had love right in my hands And I let it slip away Thought I had all the time I needed Till tomorrow came too late Now the walls feel like witnesses The ceiling knows my shame Every dream I tried to bury Calls your name The night will not let me rest It pulls the truth out of my chest Every lie I told myself Falls apart when I am left Here alone with what I lost And the love I did not save The night keeps telling me the truth I am the one to blame Morning light can lie to me But the dark always tells it straight When the night will not let me rest I face the love I let escape
