Love rarely stays in one place. “Seasons of Love” considers the way a relationship can move through periods of closeness, uncertainty, loss and renewal, much like the changing months of the year. The song finds The Adulations in a reflective mood, looking beyond the first rush of romance towards the deeper work of keeping love alive. Happiness can give way to doubt. Distance can follow intimacy. Yet even when a relationship enters a colder season, the memory of what two people shared can remain. With its patient emotional build and heartfelt vocal delivery, “Seasons of Love” brings a mature perspective to The Adulations’ debut album. It is a song about time, change and the hope that love can survive its difficult chapters. Rather than promising that romance will always be easy, the group ask whether something lasting can endure every season.
